because i’ve gotta big mouth, ivy tagged me with this meme. *teehee* (see the story somewhere in here…originally, she HADN’T tagged me. GAH! LOL!)
anyhoo, she LOVES her designer purses, as do many of the women whose blogs i read…which is somewhat peculiar, because i think the most expensive purse i’ve bought was like…$25. LOL! and that was in high school. hehe!! oh well, women can have more important things in common than the love of purses, right?
RIGHT?? *blinx* hehe!
see, im not much of a girly-girl. i mean hey, i like to spiffy on up and look “pretty” on occasion. but i grew up climbing trees, riding bikes off homemade ramps with my neighbor boys, and playing in the mud holes in my grandparent’s sidewalk that was missing bricks.
so, purses are kinda annoying to me. they’re like the little sibling you dont want hanging on you. and i prefer my purses small—just big enough to hold the very few things i need when i leave the house.
but shocker, yes, i DO own one! hehe! here’s the currently employed:
so, here you see a hand-me-down Old Navy model. it’s fleecy and very wintery-stylish. ;) my good friend Rachel so generously gave it to me as i was helping her pack up and move a few months ago. seems like we stumbled upon it in a box or an unused suitcase or something. yay me!! “expensive” purse for free =) it’s a little bigger than i’d normally have, but hey, it works :)
to the right, you’ll see my handy-dandy memo pad. it’s a life-saver when you’re wandering around the county roads in your car, and you spot a “for sale by owner” sign and need to jot down the phone number. hehe! (yep, hubby and i have been looking around at houses to buy for the last year.) oh, i DO have a pen (not pictured). its a REALLY nice heavy fancy-looking one…a freebee from the bank. HA!!! i left it in the car and my hubby had the car when i took this pix!
next is my wallet. many times when i go in the store, i just grab this and stuff it in my coat pocket. i dont particularly like carrying anything else with me in stores—not even my cell phone. oh btw, this wallet was from a leather purse i bought on clearance. i ended up hating the purse! LOL! but the wallet worked great for my credit card, cash and driver’s license =) so i kept it. who cares if it doesnt match? (well, actually it bothers me somewhat. but im just too cheap to buy an expensive one!)
*GASP* yes, the next item…IS…a checkbook!!! yes, they still exist. we rarely write checks tho, but i keep it in my purse because the times we usually need it, we’re out of the house.
back to the left, under my purse is a wool zippered bag i bought at our local pet supply and gift shop. i use it for change mostly. i’m not sure why i really bought it—i just liked it. it cost more than what i usually pay for most of my purses, too. LOL!!!
next you’ll see my lame-o cell phone. i just got it a few months ago. i switched over to a pay-as-you-go deal, and there were only 2 to choose from. i chose this one instead of the flip phone because it has a camera. i hate it, tho! it always dials and wastes my money. and i cant figure out how to lock the dumb keys! i dug out the book over the weekend, so i’ll figure it out!
then you see some misc stuff…nail clippers (i DONT prefer to bite mine! plus they come in handy cutting small things when you’re in a pinch), Burt’s Bees lip balm, travel dental floss (freebee from the dentist…i hate stuff stuck between my teeth, so this is nice when we’re traveling. yeah, im weerd that way!), chamomilla/belladonna pellets (a homeopathic remedy for upset stomach or girlie cramps), and two little barrettes for those times when i just get sick of my bangs in my face.
then of course—my keys. one for the car, one for the truck and remotes for each of them. i dont have house keys on it because i always come in thru the garage. then of course i have all my little discount tags. hehe! and lastly, that little round thing with the beads and “tail?” that’s a bracelet someone once made for me and the beads spelled out my name. but, i thought it was a keychain. LOL!! so there it’s stayed. the “o” bead broke off years ago…(i think i’ve had it for over 10 years!)…and all the other beads are worn…but oh well. it helps me find my keys and pull them out when they’re in the bottom of my purse! all this stuff is neatly clipped onto the freebee dog keychain Maizy won this summer at one of her training classes. (she did the most “puppy push-ups.” LOL!) (that’s following the commands “sit” and “down” repeatedly FYI.)
so there ya have it. yes, im a practical nerd and im proud of it =) LOL. altho, i suddenly realize how many “freebees” i own. i promise, im notta free-sample-hunter-clip-every-coupon freak!!! hehe!! i just happened to get these things i suppose, and felt the need to use them. =)
so now, i MUST torture someone else…you’re sweating, arent you? ROTFL! i realize its almost christmas, too, so just get to this one whenever you have time! of course, they’re always optional anyhoo =D
i have also decided to tag a few men. i mean, have you ever seen some men’s wallets? packed full of crazy stuff!!! no wonder they have back problems! LOL! of course, this doesnt mean show us your credit cards or driver’s licenses. you can even just list the contents and show us a photo of the wallet :D do it however you want to protect your identity! hehe!
- amy - somehow you just dont seem like the mommy-sized purse type. am i right? :)
- speedcat hollydale - cant wait to see what photos get edited this time…hehehe!
- rolando - i’m wondering if your wallet matches your Avalanche? LOL!
- christine - it would be fun to learn more about you! =)
I'm glad you didn't tag me for this one. I seldom carry a purse, just take my debit and credit cards when I go out. The rest is what pockets are made for.
ReplyDeleteUmm Isn't this like revealing your soul or something? :-) Great post Josey. Very revealing *wink, wink* (Oh there's something in my eye, hold on :-) )
ReplyDeleteTake care.
~JD
LOL witchyp...better watch out...that same exact sentiment is what got me tagged after the fact! LOL!
ReplyDeleteyep jd, sadly, it probably was TMI for some. LOL. now everyone knows what a cheapo i am! and how unexciting and simple i am. hehe! :P but really, its no more revealing than all my brain and heart-pouring-out posts. =)
ReplyDeleteI better switch out my velcro wallet with a nicer one, brb. Haha, thanks for the tag.
ReplyDeleteThat's all that's in your purse. Wow, you're low maintenance, lol You floss. Good girl.
wheeewww I ducked that one ...my wallet is a mess..held together by duct tape...:):)
ReplyDeleteI envy your simplicity. And I meant that as a compliment. Seriously, I've been trying to let go of my purse addiction but to no success. I've been trying to 'lighten' my daily load too but still no success. No wonder my back is always aching lol..............
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding to my 'tag' ;)
i love your purse post! so minamalist! i have had a constant battle with my purse. I go from small to larger, back to tiny, then bigger, then bigger, then downsize again. i have lots of things i like to carry but then get tired of them all, and throw them all out. I change purses about every day so it's easy to rotate things and keep it a little simple. i'll do this post tomorrow. and since it's christmas, it will be funny to see what's in there. fruit snacks, reciepts, gifts, you name it...
ReplyDeleterolando--velcro?! HA!! that brings back memories of a hot-pinkish-purple velcro wallety-thing i had in 5th grade. i remember taking it when i went to the theatre to watch GhostBusters...ROTFL! ;)
ReplyDeleterobert--you got that ole kentucky chrome on yer wallet?? hehehe!! kewl! just like home...=)
ReplyDeleteawww well thanks, ivy! i suppose i *have* tried to make life simpler in general...and hey, if ya gotta start with the purse well then at least you're startin somewhere. hehe! thanks for taggin me...it really was fun :D
ReplyDeletenow, go getta back massage! hehe!
hahah amy!!! you must be in the "biggest purse" mode then, if you're carrying around gifts. hehe!! and wow, you switch out purses almost every day? how many do you have!? that must be kinda fun tho. LOL! i know how excited i am when i get a new purse and sit down and reorganize where everything goes, but that's only like 3 times a year. teehee!
ReplyDeleteHi Josey,

ReplyDeleteHello here,
ReplyDeleteThis is my first post and i must tell you i am not english speaking so be indulgent with me;
Well i love your blog, it's very interesting i have been reading you for some time but i couldn't make up my mind to comment.
I always carry a purse, and never find what i am looking for as i put everything at random.
But purses are like belts when i was young.I couldn't live without them..
welcome, willykean! i'm happy you delurked =) your english is fine! thank you for the compliments, as well.
ReplyDeleteyes, it IS frustrating when you are digging and digging through your purse for something...you KNOW its in there...and it's just hiding in the depths at the bottom or stuck to something else. hehe! most embarrassing at the store or when you can't find your keys :P
thanks again for stopping by and i hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Josey, I'm done, woo hoo! Hope you're having a great Holiday!
ReplyDeleteyeah i'm surprised at how purses can cost SO much..my friend just spent $250 on a "decent" one the other day without batting an eye. well, that just means you've saved up more money to buy the things you like. happy holidays josey!
ReplyDeletehi josey, merry xmas! can i ask u something? why do a lot of women love purses and bags? some also have a fetish for shoes... well, that's just my observation.
ReplyDeleteHey Josey! I think your suggestion would def help ;)
ReplyDeleteHave A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!!!
Wishing you all the best for the coming year.
Ivy :)
I like your purse...I'm with you...I like to carry around the essentials, but not much more than that. Travelling light is a GOOD thing!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! It's been fun getting to know you through our blogs this month.
xo,
Starshine
Hey There,
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen you around lately. I hope that means that you're off having fun and enjoying the Holidays. I keep asking myself... Can the chatty one be quiet for this long? Your computer must be broken - Huh? I hope your Season is cheerful, joyous, and fun!
Happy Holidays! Intrepid
rolando--i just now finally checked out your wallet meme. HEHE!! you are such a good sport for playing :D thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteand i AM having a great holiday...Christmas was awesome! hope things have been special and fun for you as well =)
gale--GAK! $250 on a purse. WOW! i suppose if i had a lot of extra money laying around, that wouldnt be a big deal...but i suppose i've never had that luxury. hehe :) i agree with you...if youve saved it up and that's what ya like, then by all means, splurge! thanks for droppin by :)
ReplyDeletehi there, jessie :) well since i dont have a fetish for purses or shoes (they're more of a functional necessity for me. hehe.), its hard for me to explain why some women love them so much! i would venture to guess that its an expression of personality...something that's fun to choose, buy and fun to use or wear :) or...some people just like spending money, right? hehe!!
ReplyDeletehi ivy! i love it when you stop by :D i always feel so special! hehe!! you're one of those kinds of people that isnt over chatty (like yours truly LOL), so when you have something to say on your blog, its always meaningful :)
ReplyDeletethanks for tagging me for this even tho i was really scared to do it ;) LOL.
i hope your Christmas was superfun and memorable and that your new year's is safe and happy!!
hey, starshine! YES, traveling light--why didnt i think of that terminology? DUH! it perfectly describes my practicality. i LOVE it. ;)
ReplyDeletei have enjoyed being a regular visitor at your place, too...you never fail to make me giggle or dig deep and think about important things!
hope your first new year with hubby is FANTASTIC!! =)
hello, intrepid! hahah...yes, strangely enough, the chatty one CAN shut her mouth once in a while ;) teehee!! i appreciate you taking note of my break. i suppose i didnt really announce it, figuring everyone else would be busy, too. i've been trying to note on my "twitter" in the navigation bar when i'm going to be gone, etc...so hopefully that helps :)
ReplyDeleteand my computer would NEVER be broken! *GASP!* that would be...impossible! LOL! fortunately hubby is my live-in IT so i'm always good to go. hehe!
wishing you the best new year's ever! :)
I finally made it here to do the tag!!!!!!! I am doing 1000 of them right now (my second job for the day was cancelled) whew.... I am behind :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, I will do mky best considering I don't carry a wallet - he heee
Speedy
ohmygosh speedy, yes, you DID do 1000 memes. LOL! i think my favorite thing you carry in your "wallet" is the plant. *teehee* is that to keep the air smelling fresh or what? LOL!
